Manager

You know what job I thought would be cool when I was a kid? Baseball manager. Man, wouldn’t that be awesome? Setting the lineups, evaluating the talent, helping people out, sitting on a bench for three hours. Sounds like so much fun.

However, after putting together a softball team this year I have come to realize that it is not a cool job. Why? Because dealing with everyone’s feelings sucks and having to cut people sucks even worse. Whenever anyone has a complaint, they complain to me. This week I had to get rid of one player on the team because we have too many, do you think that was fun? Telling one of your friends that he isn’t good enough to play softball? It’s not, but the thing is that I had to do it because if I told someone else that they couldn’t be on the team anymore than that person would ask me why he can’t but this other person who didn’t play as good as him could. Then there would be others on the team second guessing my decision. It’s just not fun.

Screw managing.
