One has to think that if Ned Yost wasn’t fired already he would have been after yesterday’s game. Not that it would have been his fault that Torres gave up four runs with two outs in the ninth, but that’s just the way it would have went. I don’t want to be all doom and gloom about it, but this really could be the end of the Brewers. With McClung pitching yesterday and Sheets most likely done as a starter the rotation is screwed for the rest of the season. I guess they could put Parra back in, but if he looks anything like he has the past few starts that won’t do much good. I wonder if they could convince Sheets to become a late inning reliever. Torres looks done for the year and a Gallardo-Sheets 8th/9th combo would be hard to deal with. I highly doubt Sheets would risk his huge upcoming contract, but we all know how much value a strong playoff run can add to a contract(somewhere around $8.3M apparently). The bottom line is the Brewers NEED to beat the Reds at minimum two out of three to even be in the discussion. As I mentioned they can’t expect the Nationals, Braves and Marlins to do the job for them.
