I find it strange to think that the Cardinals might trade Rick Ankiel. He’s just always seemed to me like one of those “one team for life” kind of guys. Maybe it’s because of the way Will Leitch has covered him at deadspin and in his book, but Ankiel has always seemed to be a part of the very fabric of a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Like Brett Favre used to be to the Packers, Biggio and Bagwell to the Astros, or even A-Rod to Scott Boras. I know that the era of the one team player is over, Allen Iverson is now on his third team for crying out loud, but it’d be nice if there was a few exceptions that weren’t super-duper stars.
