I am every TV character in every favorite show I have ever had, part two

The more I think about this, the more I think I should probably do like five parts. I mean, everyone I cover in this one and the previous one are characters of my most favorite shows, but there are certainly shows that have been left out. That’s not because I don’t really like them, but because I maybe haven’t seen them in awhile and been able to gain that connection. For instance Freaks & Geeks is one of my favorite shows of all time, but I can’t tell you right now who I most related too. It could have been Lindsay or it could have been easily been Daniel or even Nick. I don’t know. You could probably also make a case for me relating to the female leads in Veronica Mars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and that shit right there would blow your mind. So, yeah, we’ll have to see how that works out. One day we could see part three of this series because I really enjoy writing it. Whatever, we’ll figure that out later on with the show! read more »

Sons of Anarchy

sonsI borrowed season 1 of Sons of Anarchy on DVD from my cousin and all I have to say is “holy shit, I love TV so fucking much.” I watched the first episode around 7 o’clock on Saturday night and finished the season this afternoon, but if I wouldn’t have had Nolan coming over today I probably would have blown through the entire first season that night. To me that’s one of the best feelings in the world when you get really wrapped up in a show and you don’t care what time it is, you just know that you want to watch ONE MORE episode and then when that one episode ends you somehow talk yourself into one more after that. That was me last night, Sons of Anarchy is a really good show and coming from me that means something. Not because my taste in TV is impeccable (it is), but because this show is not really in my wheelhouse. Tatted up bikers and Harleys aren’t exactly what you would call my thing (fags), but there is something about this show that completely hooked me and in just one 24 hour watching period this show entered the pantheon of shows I got addicted to along with LOST, Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, Weeds (which ended up disapponting me and then slightly winning me back), The Wire and Baywatch Nights. (Just seeing if you were paying attention with that last one.) It’s that good. Great actors (Katey Sagal, Lloyd from Undeclared, Hellboy, Don Draper’s Jewish girlfriend, dudes from X-Files and Deadwood, the list goes on and on), not a single dull episode in season one and just a really good season-long (and the makings of a series-long) arc. Great, great show.

Friday Night Lights

I just caught up on the first three episodes of Friday Night Lights season three and am immediately hooked again. Originally I had planned to watch just the first episode of the new season, but before I knew it I had watched the first three and I had to get up in three hours. A few quick thoughts.

  • There is no way that Tyra, Lilah and Tim Riggins were sophmores in the first season. Absolutely no way. Nonetheless, I am so happy to have them back.
  • The Crash storyline is one of the best things they have done football-wise in a long time, but I swear to GOD if he tries to quit one more time… Seriously, he has gone back and forth twice an episode for all three episodes.
  • Tim and Lilah may be better than Matt and Julie. THERE I SAID IT.
  • The McCoy parents are probably the most interesting new characters they have introduced since Santiago (kidding). The dad is just so awesome at being evil and you know the mom has got something up her sleeve, but the son? Get some mommy issues or something already. You’re embarrassing yourself.
  • What the hell is with that country band? Do the producers owe them money or something?
  • I still love Tim Riggins and there will come a time when he stands up to Buddy Garrity that will rank among the greatest moments in television history. Right up there with Logan purposefully getting himself arrested and the first time Barney said Legen….wait for it… dary.

Anyways, it’s good to have the show back and if you aren’t watching there is something seriously wrong with you.
