God bless the Moneyball script

Well, my favorite baseball book of all time Moneyball is not going to be made into a movie anymore. Brad Pitt and Steven Soderbergh were connected, which makes the entire thing even more insane. If I had those two connected to a project I would greenlight a movie version of last week’s O Magazine. Regardless, these things happen when you deal with Hollywood. Nobody wants to take chances and The Warriors gets a remake.

A version of the Moneyball script got posted online and I have been reading it instead of doing anything productive. My favorite part thus far:

Amen to that.

Best movie ever

MONEYBALL THE MOVIE STARRING BRAD PITT YES YES YES

Steve Zaillian has signed on to adapt Michael Lewis’ nonfiction bestseller “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game,” and David Frankel is attached to direct. Project is being developed as a potential starring vehicle for Brad Pitt.

Book’s subject is Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, who assembled a contending baseball club on a shoestring budget by employing a sophisticated computer-based analysis to draft players.

For some reason I want David Krumholtz as DePo. Please let this happen and please don’t let someone screw it up. The writer seems good, but let’s not dumb things down okay? Let’s not make DePo a bookish who never goes anywhere without his laptop. Let’s nail this thing. PLEASE.
