Netflix just got better

I love my Netflix more than many things I love many things in life. It’s always there for me when I’m feeling down, bringing me movies to watch via the mail. I use it more than any single product (non computer division) I have purchased in the last five years. It’s the best, but it somehow it just got better.

Netflix has teamed up with Starz to offer over 1,000 more titles to be streamed online. I use the Netflix Watch Instantly feature about 3 or 4 times a week, but now it has titles like Ratatouille, No Country for Old Men and Robocop. You know, movies I might actually want to watch that came out in the past couple years. Before adding this feature my que, which has like 350 movies on it, only had about 15 available to watch instantly. Now it has 50. That’s quite the difference.

How I Met Your Mother

After Dr. Horrible I realized I had an incredible man-crush on Neil Patrick Harris. He’s just incredibly talented and hasn’t really got a great chance to utilize it, but I keep hearing about how amazing he is in How I Met Your Mother. Throw in co-stars Jason Segel (who I’ve loved in everything I’ve seen), Alyson Hannigan (Buffy alum, yes!), add in some favorable reviews and this was a show I had to see.

I ended up getting disc one of season one off of my Netflix account. I flew through the disc in one night and ended up adding the rest of the season the next night. It ended up being so much better than I ever imagined (mostly due to Neil Patrick Harris) that I ended up getting season two right away (cutting off Mad Men in the process). While the second season wasn’t as good as the first, it was still high quality television. There is so many legit laugh out loud moments on this show that I don’t know how it took me until the fourth season to check it out, but I am so glad I did. read more »

Best movies of 2008 (ongoing)

Been meaning to do this for awhile. Here’s my top ten of movies released in 2008 which will be updated as the year goes on and I see more movies.

  1. Wall-E
  2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
  3. Speed Racer
  4. Iron Man
  5. Dark Knight
  6. Definitely, Maybe
  7. Pineapple Express
  8. Step Brothers
  9. Tropic Thunder
  10. Charlie Bartlett

And suddenly I realize I haven’t seen a lot of movies this year which has a lot to do my geographical location because we didn’t even get Burn After Reading here. I imagine this list is going to change A LOT in the next few months. I  have The Foot Fist Way and Son of Rambow coming on Netflix this week. Plus, another 700 movies coming out that I want to see. I really don’t see 1-2 changing, ever.
